Snake Oil Scoop: National Geographic Genius Bar at TCA Fox All-Star Party

On Wednesday,  January 11th, the Snake Oil team headed up to the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena for the Television Critics Association press tour with Fox and National Geographic. Snake Oil served up four delicious specialty cocktails in the National Geographic Genius Bar, a 1930’s inspired cocktail bar with an Albert Einstein theme.

Our mixologists whipped up some “genius” cocktails, including the custom designed E=mc2, a vodka (or bourbon!) cocktail made with smashed pineapple, pressed lemon, holiday spiced brown sugar, egg white and aromatic bitters.

Another favorite was the Gravitational Pull, which is a delicious combination of vodka, smashed blueberry, pressed lemon, and infused lavender soda. We garnished the cocktail with thinly sliced, lemon infused jicama stars.

Due to the rain and recently chilly nights, we wanted to serve up some warm cocktails to keep guests cozy and feeling good. The It’s All Relative was a winter spiced mulled wine served with a splash of bourbon, citrus wheel and cinnamon stick. And the Accelerate was the creamiest, most delicious hot chocolate ever created. We served it with a hazelnut liquor and toasted the moon-shaped marshmallows in front of guests for a final touch. The smell was incredible and the cocktail was divine!

Aside from the delicious cocktails, the atmosphere of the party was fantastic. Celebs and guests alike enjoyed the photobooth, Nat Geo Genius swag, and a 3-foot tall cow cake, cut by the one and only Nat Geo Veterinarian, Dr. Pol, who was celebrating his 100th Anniversary.

Celebs in attendance included Queen Latifah, Emily Deschanel, Katie Aselton, Brandy, Jordana Brewster, Naomi Campbell, Sanaa Lathan, Aubrey Plaza, Serayah, Benjamin Bratt and Susan Sarandon, among many others.
